An Exciting Week At Leighton

This half-term is flying by. It is amazing to think we have been back at school for five and half weeks.

So what has been happening in school this week?

Our Y5 classes have been working with scientists from Genome Science Campus in Cambridge to set up a giant 'Fly Trap' on the school field. This is part of a project involving a small group of schools within the country. For 48 hours the Malaise Fly Trap was set up to collect insects found a Leighton. The children spent time learning about insects and were excited about the range of things that became caught in our trap.

It was National Poetry Day on Thursday. Children across school had the opportunity to enjoy, explore and play with words through poetry. Children were able to read some, perform some and write some.

On Friday 8th October, the whole school recognised World Mental Health Day by dressing up in the colours of the rainbow 🌈 in support of Head to Toe. Thank you for the generous donations in support this charity who deliver child and adolescent mental health services.

Looking forward to another fun filled week next week.
