EAL Bronze Award
EAL Bronze Quality Mark Award
Leighton Primary School has been awarded a Quality Mark to recognise our excellent provision, success and achievements in supporting children who are learning English as an Additional Language. The award celebrates the fantastic teaching which takes place everyday at Leighton enabling our children from all different cultures and language backgrounds to achieve their full potential. In order to achieve this award, Miss Guilfoyle met with an advisor from The EAL Academy who took a tour of the school, spoke to some of our pupils and assessed what we do as a school for children who speak English as an additional language in order to make sure they feel safe, welcome and are able to learn to the best of their ability. The advisor was delighted with what she saw and awarded us the Bronze Quality Mark Award to recognise our achievements in this area. We are now looking to continue to improve as a school as we work towards the silver award.
If you speak a language other than English and could spare a little time in your week to be a regular reading buddy or run a one off cooking class or story time please email Miss Guilfoyle for more information: firstname.lastname@example.org
We really value working closely with our parents to enhance the curriculum and would like to congratulate our parents and pupils for helping us to achieve this award.
