Reception Baseline Assessment
From September 2021, all reception children need to take part in a Baseline Assessment during their first 6 weeks of school. The Department for Education has produced an information leaflet about this assessment for parents/carers which is attached below. These assessments are carried out by the teachers in the classrooms.
The reception children are also taking part in other short activities with their teachers such as reading a story together, drawing and mark making. Teachers and Teaching Assistants are getting to know your child by engaging in conversation and playing with them, and observing their self-chosen activities and interactions with other children. Please look at Tapestry to see what your child has been doing at school.
All the information we gather, will be used to support our planning to ensure our curriculum meets the developmental needs of the children, and includes their interests.
If there is anything you would like to share about what your child knows and can do at home or outside of school, please add this to Tapestry.
If you have any questions about the Reception Baseline Assessment or any general questions or comments, please contact the office to speak with Mrs Bird.
