Porridge making

We have been reading the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. We all had the opportunity to make porridge in our new Design and Technology space in school.

The children received a letter from Mummy bear asking that we make some porridge with different toppings and let her know which one was the best. The children went to our special cooking room in school. They washed their hands and wore an apron.

First we talked about the ingredients and equipment. We measured the milk and porridge oats using weighing scales and a jug. We described the ingredients .

Next we all had a turn mixing the ingredients together.

After that Mrs Wells took the sauce pan to the stove and started to cook the porridge. We watched the porridge change from being very runny to being very thick.

We looked for the bubbles and we could hear them pop.

When the porridge was ready we put it into bowls and each child chose their topping . They could choose from plain, jam or honey.

Each child tried their own porridge.
