Making Porridge
We have been reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Mummy Bear wrote us a letter to ask which topping would be best for Baby Bear. We decided to make porridge and try it plain, with honey or with blueberries.
We visited our Design Technology area to cook and remembered to wash our hands carefully and put on an apron before we started. We used a jug and weighing scales to measure the milk and oats, and then stirred them together. the porridge looked very runny when we poured it into the pan. Next the adult turned on the hob and the porridge began to heat up. We could see it turning into a thicker mixture as it got hotter. We saw bubbles and heard them 'Pop!'
When it was ready, the adult poured an equal amount into each bowl and each child chose their preferred topping to try. Most children enjoyed the porridge and ate it all up, just like Goldilocks!
Hopefully Mummy Bear will be able to make some more porridge for Baby Bear using our suggested topping of honey.
