Nocturnal animal/Pyjama day fundraiser
The children were invited to come to school dressed as nocturnal animals or in their pyjamas. We darkened the rooms and had a range of activities for the children to choose from throughout the day. We began the day by learning about different animals that come out when it is dark. The children had the opportunity to use clay to make a nocturnal animal. They got to decorate their own biscuit with stars before eating it. They were able to make masks of different animals like owls, foxes, hedgehogs and bats. The children used torches inside a school made den (a big blanket over a table) to read stories and realise how things look so different in the dark. The children had a milkshake drink while they were read a 'bedtime' story. All of the children had such an enjoyable day. Some children even asked if we could do it all again the next day!
We raised money for each class to buy some new books for their reading areas.
