Geography - Volcanoes
As part of geography, we have been learning about the structure of volcanoes. We found out that they have a crater or vent through which lava, rock fragments, hot vapour and gas erupt. Using this information, we sketched volcano diagrams. We also watched our very own volcanoes erupting in the school playground.
We used our history skills to consider why changes in the past occurred. We thought about how technology for detecting volcanoes was not available and therefore the eruption of Mount Vesuvius was so catastrophic. As well as this, we used our knowledge and understanding to write narratives about the blast. We carefully thought about the beliefs of Roman citizens at this time and the features of their society.
