Harvest Festival - Mindfulness Pumpkins
We've been thinking about harvest festival which is a celebration of the food that is grown on the land. Celebrations giving thanks for our food, happen in many countries around the world. In Britain, harvest festivals are often celebrated in churches by bringing baskets of food to give thanks to God. We were able to make valuable links to our R.E topic of Christianity and have discussions about the ways in which people celebrate Harvest Festival, e.g. singing, praying, listening to stories and decorating the church.
We've been focusing on the value of co-operation and have been bringing in items from home to donate to the food bank, which will help our community.
In our lessons, we considered the things we are grateful for. On pumpkins (a food that is often a symbol of autumn) we jotted down some of our ideas ready to work collaboratively with our peers to decorate them onto real pumpkins.
