Year 3 children have been learning about Sikhism in R.E., so we based our DT work on Sikhism. In cooking, we all made chapattis. Then we researched what you would find in a Gurdwara, and from this research, the children designed and then made their own models of a Gurdwara. At the end of the week, we invited parents in to help evaluate our Gurdwara models, and then we finished with a challenge: to make the largest free-standing 'lighthouse' tower out of just newspaper and tape, in 15 minutes. The parents certainly joined in well and many of the towers were really impressive.
