Tree donated by Burghley Estate in Stamford
Two children visited The Burghley Estate to choose and help cut down Leighton's Christmas Tree. A big thank you to the team at Burghley Estate who kindly donated the tree and their time to make this a really magical experience for the children and staff. We can't wait to see this tree in school.
Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist born in 1929, who likes using dots in her art. Her Obliteration Room is being displayed at the Tate Modern Gallery; it is a white room transformed into a sea of colour with dots. Here is Leighton’s piece inspired by her work.
At the end of October, the children took part in our first Spelling Bee Challenge! There were many examples of fantastic spelling across the whole school and lots of the children made great improvements. Well done everyone!

Dear Families
We have contractors coming to the site this evening at 5pm to carry out remedial works. We are anticipating Leighton will reopen tomorrow. We will confirm via email/message as early as possible.
All being well, we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Thanks again for your patience and support.
Dolphin Class (Year 2) were very excited to be presented with the Best Class Attendance Trophy recently with 98.2% attendance last half term. The children were even more excited when they learnt that they also had a special pizza and chips lunch planned as a reward. Sadly, there were no photos taken but the pizza and chips were enjoyed by all. When the Attendance news was shared with parents and carers, it was lovely to see the responses congratulating the children on their achievement.
Year 5 pupils have recently taken part in Level 2 Bikeability training where they have developed their confidence in handling a bike. They took to the roads around Leighton and learnt how to safely cycle on the roads, practising manoeuvres such as signalling, breaking and turning.

Reception Poppy activity for Remembrance day. The idea is to add the correct number of pegs to the numbered poppy. We have also been finger painting our own poppies in our outside classroom.
Dear Families
Unfortunately, the situation with the water has not been resolved. This means that Leighton Primary School will be closed tomorrow (Thursday 10th November 2022). School staff will upload learning on the school website. We will keep you updated with the situation. Thank you for your support and patience at this time. The school team will contact you via email to find out if families with children eligible for free school meals would like to come to school to collect a packed lunch tomorrow.

In our Reception classes we have been learning about the Hindu festival 'Diwali'.
We have learnt lots of facts about Diwali and taken part in many activities. This included trying some Diwali sweets , dressing up and exploring Rangoli patterns with rice.
'Diwali' is the Festival of light. Hindus celebrate Diwali by cleaning their homes, adding lots of lights and Diya lamps . They welcome family and friends with Rangoli pattern at their homes.
