This week the Reception children have been carrying out lots of activities in the classroom and outside linked to the Coronation. During our morning activities the children are developing their fine motor skills by cutting out bunting to decorate our outside classroom. The children have been in our role play tea shop serving tea, coffee , juice and cakes. They all have used their creative skills to make a flag to wave during our whole school parade. In our Understanding of the world lessons we shall be learning about London being our capital city and talking about some of the London landmarks that we might see on the television during the weekend Coronation. The following week after the coronation we shall learn more about our new king and the royal family. The children will get an opportunity to share how they have celebrated the coronation with their families .

School will be closed to all pupils on Thursday 27th April 2023 and Tuesday 2nd May
2023.
In regard to the national strike involving the National Education Union [NEU] members planned
For Thursday 27th April 2023 and Tuesday 2nd May 2023.
In accordance with National guidelines, as a school Leaders and Governors have undertaken a
risk assessment to examine how a strike would impact on our ability to maintain a normal school
provision. Unfortunately, we have concluded that we would be unable to operate safely due to
potential significant staff absence.
As such, school will be closed to all pupils on Thursday 27th April 2023 and Tuesday 2nd May
2023.
This means there will be no after school clubs and breakfast club on both 27th April 2023 and
Tuesday 2nd May 2023.
Leaders and Governors understand that this disruption will be upsetting and concerning to many
parents. As it is a national day of action for members of the NEU, the impact of the strike action
itself is out of our control. I would however assert that we will endeavor to do all that we can to
ensure the learning lost will be made up for through the dedication and hard work that your
children and our staff display every day.
School will reopen on Friday 28th April 2023 and Wednesday 3rd May 2023.
