Leighton Primary School

Important - Changes to Reopening

Important - Changes to reopening

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you have all managed to enjoy the lovely sunshine this week and had some valuable
family time.

As a staff we have been working hard to ensure that the school is ready for the partial
reopening next week for our Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children along with the Key
Worker /Vulnerable group.

The task for ensuring optimum health and safety for all of our school community has been
enormous and we are continually evaluating and reassessing our Risk Assessment.
We do feel strongly that as a school we will not be ready to reopen on Monday 1 st June and
we were being slightly unrealistic in our intentions to do so. Due to the advice and risk
assessments changing regularly we feel that as a school we need to use Monday and
Tuesday to ensure that staff have the most updated training to assure parents that we have
all eventualities covered and thus providing the very best welfare and care for the children
under these very challenging circumstances.

I would like to apologise for this delay in reopening and will emphasise that this decision has
been made with the children’s safety at the heart of the decision made. I do appreciate that
this may cause inconvenience for you and your family. I really do hope that this doesn’t
unnecessary unsettle the children as well.

We are now hoping that the school will be able to reopen on Wednesday 3 rd June.
I will be contacting all parents again on Monday to update you all and to confirm the
reopening date.

The Key Worker and vulnerable group children will be able to attend school on Monday as
these access to school plans are embedded and I appreciate that parents have work
commitments.
Thank you for your continued support.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any concerns or questions
Kind Regards
Hayley Sutton
