Leighton Primary School

Week Beginning 11th May 2020

Hello Year 6!

I hope everyone is keeping well and staying safe.

Believe it or not, but it would have been your SATs next week! I know you were all looking forward them to show off all the wonderful learning you have achieved during your time at Leighton. On the tabs to the right, I will add two SATs options. One contains last year's SATs papers, so you can have a go to see how you would have done. The second are some silly SATs papers that you may enjoy having a go at. It is completely up to you if would like to try them, but I know some of you were really keen to challenge yourself with this year's SATs papers and if not still try the silly ones!

I hope you are finding the workbooks useful. Try to do a page or two of English and Maths each day. Remember, if you get stuck, you can email us at year6@leightonprimary.net and one of us will get back to help you. Home learning is something new for all us and we are all getting used to it, so do not panic if you are finding tricky right now. Just do the best you can. We are looking at ways we can support your learning at home over the next few weeks. If you can't access any of the links, please let me know. There is no set way to record your work. Please choose the best method that works for you. Some of you have been sharing your work with us and we add the photos to the gallery. You may complete your work on your laptop or you may use pencil and paper - it is completely up to you.

Alongside your workbooks, I'm adding lesson ideas and resources in the tabs to the right.

I will try to follow the lessons on BBC Bitesize and Oak National Academy as then you will have access to video resources to support you learning. You can complete the activities within the lessons online and / or complete the activities I add on. It is your choice: choose the one you enjoy most and the lessons that work best for you at home.

We will be in contact with parents this week by phone and will be looking at delivering some reading books and other resources to your homes.

JCA RESIDENTIAL UPDATE:

I spoke to JCA last week; they are are still closed and are awaiting the Government to advise them what to do next. The reality is, that the trip will likely and sadly be cancelled for Year 6. We will be working on providing refunds as soon as we can. We will have to wait until June before we can start the refund process with JCA.
