What a lovely day we have had! It started off with an assembly led by Miss Guilfoyle who spoke to us about all different languages over the world and importance of celebrating every language.
We continued to celebrate language by exploring the culture of Italy and learning how to say hello/goodbye (ciao pronounced chow!) and counting to 10.
We learnt lots of facts: the capital city is Rome, children go to school when they are 6 years old and learnt the colours of the flags in Italian! (Rosso - red, verde, green and bianco - white).
This afternoon we learnt about the artist Amedeo Modigliani who was an artist and sculptor. He created unusual portraits that included long necks and sad faces. We had a go at creating our own self portraits in his style of work.
It has been a fantastic day!
